For those who like some good 'ol Americana folk music give this band a listen!
I discovered it by listening to a punkrock benefit album for the benefit for the national association to protect children. Against Me! covers a song called Wagon Wheel on it. Said to be partly written by Bob Dylan. The original is done by the Old Crow Medicine Show. Their music surprises me.
Both version are worth listening and the OCMS is on my iPod!

OCMS is the shit. There is really nothing else out there that can be compared to them. They are playing the Ryman Auditorium (Grand Ole Opry) in June. I am thinking about making the pilgrimage.
The story of Wagon Wheel goes... there is a song or snippet of a song called Wagon Wheel floating around on some Dylan bootlegs. It is really nothing more than a partial demo for the song including the first verse and chorus. The fiddler of OCMS, Ketch Secor, wrote additional lyrics and a slightly different arrangement to flesh out and finish the song. It first appeared on their "Troubles Up & Down The Road" EP. That version is good but the definitive is on their major label debut "OCMS."
If you can find their CDs snatch 'em up 'cause most of them are merciously out of print.
Marc - glad to see you posting! I'm shootin ya an email, we gotta catch up.

I would love to hear Mike Ness cover that Wagon Wheel song! It sounds a bit like Prison Bound if you ask me. Lov that song!
And yeah, Bob Dylan wrote a song calles Rock Me Mama which is said to be the main inspiration for this song!

So i heard that song on the radio today (wagon wheel) with a friend and we were debating whether or not Mike Ness covers it. (political debates aside), i say Ness has not, my homeboy says he thinks he did. we're not sure though, maybe someone on here knows??
p.s. i was going to post this as a question, and then i found this old thread. pretty cool song; in case you haven't heard it i found it on youtube:

It sounds like Prison bound because the chord progression throughout the song is almost exactly the same so it has that feel to it.
